Ernest Green lived at 1224 West 21st Street in 1957 with his father, Lothaire S. Green, the parent named in the school's 1957 records. On May 27, 1958, Ernest became the first African American student to graduate from Little Rock Central High School—with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. attending the ceremony as a guest of the Green family. Ernest earned degrees from Michigan State University, served as Assistant Secretary of Labor under President Jimmy Carter, and went on to a distinguished career in finance and public service. This is a private residence. Please view it from the street with respect for the current owners.
